History > Wat Chanasongkrarm

Legend of Somdej Phra Puttajarn To Promransri, Thailand

Wat Chana Songkram Rachaworamahawiharn

The Temple is under the patronage of the King and said to be the ancient temple once called "Klang Na Temple" (The Temple in the Rice Field). King Rama the First of the Chakri Dynasty once named this temple "Tong Pu Temple". After the War with Burma, Somdej Phra Rajawang Bavorn Maha Sura Singahanart improved the temple and presented it to King Rama the First. King Rama the First then renamed it "Chana Songkrom Temple" after the victory over Burma. (Literally, the temple of the Wat Victory). The Centerpiece Buddha image in this temple is called Phra Buddhanorrasi Trilokkachet Mahetatisak Puchaniya Chayantakodom Borom masasada Anaworayan.
