History > Wat Sothonwarararm

Legend of Somdej Phra Puttajarn To Promransri, Thailand

Wat Sothorn Warararm Worawiharn

Legend says that this Buddha image was floating in the river when people saw it. So it is considered one of the most sacred Buddha images in the country. The Buddha image was cast in the sitting position and made of solid gold. It is very important to the people in the province, as well as the people nearby. Sothorn Warararm Worawiharn Temple was once called Sao Hong Temple and then Sao Thorn Temple. It was changed to the present name when Luang Por Sothorn, the Buddha image was brought to be the centerpiece of the temple. Since 1958, it has been called Sothorn Warararm Worawiharn Temple. Check our variety section for many of Luangpor Sothon's amulets.
