History > Wat Baanlaem

Legend of Somdej Phra Puttajarn To Promransri, Thailand

Wat Baan Laem

Phet Samut Worawihaan Temple is famous because of a renowned Buddha image called "Luangpor Wat Baanlaem" Legend says that people of Baan Laem district found the Buddha image while fishing, so they called the image "Luangpor Baanlaem" following the name of the district. Luangpor Wat BaanLaem was said to have the mystical power to attract a large number of people. It is sculptured in the Ayutthaya style, cast in with solid-gold, with the distintive Angel-like face. The Buddha is also said to have power transferred from an important person of Siam in the past.
