History > Wat Khaotakrao

Legend of Somdej Phra Puttajarn To Promransri, Thailand

Wat Khao Ta Krao

Wat Khao Ta Krao has been well known for a hundred years because of the holy Buddha image called "Luang Pu Thong Wat Khao Ta Krao". The poetry of Sun-thorn Phoo, the most popular poet of Siam, proves its sacred power. Luangpu Thong Wat Khao Ta Krao is said to be the golder Buddha image, but because it has been covered by the golden leaves by people, we cannot see the real image. Legends says that people found 2 Buddha images by fishing, so they took on to the Baan Laem Temple, and the other one to Ta Krao Temple, The Second image has been called "Luangpu Thong Wat Khao Ta Krao"since then.
