One who is exceptional in some way. It is the position given by the Lord Buddha to his disciples: bhikkhu, bhikkhuni, a layman, who has superior knowledge and competence in that field, and each position of Aetatakka is only appointed to one person.

There are 41 monks, 13 bhikkhuni, 10 men. 10 women. Appointed with this title by the Buddha.
