Info > Ten Lives of Buddha Part Two

Legend of Somdej Phra Puttajarn To Promransri, Thailand

The Ten Life of Buddha Part 2/4

Foal - Baby horse, less than a year.

Assatara horse (Pali) = Mule

Mules are hardier, eat less, and live longer than horses of an equivalent size. Mules require less food and have more stamina than horses of the same weight and height, making them resilient working animals in some of the harshest environments, In ancient times, mule is considered rare and precious.

The four scholars ordered his father to bring a fine stallion as an offering, while Mahosadha is to offer a foal. This meant for people to understand that parents who give birth to children like grown-up horses are better, more excellent than foals. Mahosadha did not tell the king about the mule in the way to insult his father, but rather to make people realize, to point out the reality of the world, which is the evolution and growth through the ages, generations, and to solve the problem that was intentionally created by the four scholars.

Kaganika - Ancient currency with the smallest value. Coin of smallest value.

Kaganika - Wealth is worth as much as the piece of meat that the crow can carry.

1 Karshapana = 20 Masoka or 1 Tael or 4 Baht.

Uposatha day

Taxila

Mongkol (Thai) - Propitiousness.

Mongkol means something that brings happiness and prosperity. It is something that brings good luck, well-being, and happiness as desired. There are 2 types of auspiciousness: worldly auspiciousness and spiritual auspiciousness.

Worldly auspiciousness is something that is material that people in the world consider auspicious, such as objects, animals, and some trees, fengshui, talisman, amulets, white elephants, silver and gold leaves, as well as names, letters, numbers, or auspicious times, etc. It is also called external auspiciousness.

Dhamma auspiciousness is a practice that must be truly practiced. There are 38 ways, such as not associating with bad people, associating only with scholars, giving alms, practicing Dhamma, being grateful, etc. It is also called internal auspiciousness or 38 mongkol chevit (38 Propitiousness of life).
